[Review] Claire's Black Eyeliner Pencil

   Price: £1.99
~~
Weight: 9g

Claire's is a retailer of accessories, jewellery and cosmetics in the UK, with its primary target market being young girls. As you may suspect, the majority of their products are fairly cheap and not of particularly high quality.
  ~
The eyeliner pencil itself is a matte black colour. The pencil is pretty standard, although it is a few centimetres longer than the typical eyeliner pencil on the market. Claire's logo is placed on the middle on the pencil in signature silver lettering, and other information such as ingredients is also detailed using silver embossing, albeit in smaller font. On one end of the eyeliner pencil there is a blending applicator, and on the other there is a standard lid to protect the eyeliner's nib. Overall, it looks quite professional and chic, although the lettering wore off after a few days.

There is also a thin plastic covering over the entire pencil too which ensures that the product hasn't been tampered with.
  ~~
The lids on both ends are easy to remove ^.^

The applicator is soft and easy to use, and can be used to soften the edges of the eyeliner. However, as it's rather large, I don't find myself using it very often as the finished look isn't very polished, and after using the sponge, it's contaminated so if used again, it ends up creating dark smudges -_-
 ~~
So yeah, the applicator is a nice idea but it is more of a gimmick and isn't very functional or useful in practice; a sharpener would probably be a better and more useful addition.

This eyeliner pencil needs to be sharpened pretty much after each usage as even drawing a simple line actually uses quite a lot of product. Hence, even after only four or five usages, I used up half of the pencil.
 ~~
Luckily, the nib of the pencil is quite sturdy and doesn't break when I apply the eyeliner, but the constant need to sharpen is rather irritating. The eyeliner pencil's colour is a dark grey shade and not really a true carbon black colour. This product is not scented.

The quality of this eyeliner pencil is surprisingly poor as it is used up quickly and smudges really easily; after two or three hours, I end up with the eyeliner transferring onto my eyelid and extending down my lash line which makes me look like a panda... -.-
  ~~
The eyeliner doesn't glide on easily either, probably due to the stiffness of the nib. It's disappointing that the eyeliner shifts about and does not stay put.

Claire's eyeliner in black is quite a letdown, and I certainly won't be repurchasing this product in the future despite its reasonable price. Even as an everyday eyeliner, it doesn't hold up so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I hope you liked reading this review!
